Hello District Families!

The choice enrollment window is quickly approaching, and this email contains some useful information to help you navigate the choice process. It is important to note that ALL choice families need to complete the choice process, including new and current choice families.

What is choice? Choice is an option for families to request attendance at a school other than their address-assigned school. Below is the process for submitting choice requests and renewals.

The choice enrollment window opens on February 1 and continues through March 29, 2024. Families hoping to choice for the first time must fill out the In-District New Choice Request Form, while current choice families must fill out an In-District Choice Renewal Form. This renewal form must be filled out annually to indicate your intent to continue with your current choice school or to notify the district that you no longer want to continue with your choice school.

Families will be notified of their new choice application approval or denial of their choice selection by the end of May. If your in-district choice application is not approved, you’ll be placed on the waitlist and will be notified of any openings by mid-September.  If you have any questions about the in-district choice process, please contact Catheleen Scott at (509) 559-4591, or check out our FAQs.

Families wishing to submit an out-of-district choice can submit their request online here; all out-of-district choice requests are submitted through the Choice Transfer Request Portal (CTRP), part of the Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI). Carla Hudson will contact any out-of-district choice families regarding their choice approval or denial.
