This Spring was a challenging time for all of us. It was especially challenging moving suddenly to an online schooling system. Students in art classes had the unique situation of trying to continue their art learning without basic art materials (or the ability or resources to buy any because of quarantine limitations). With COVID-19 on the scene, students had limited resources and less art-making support than they were used to in our art classroom. But that didn’t stop many of our CMS art students! They still persevered, experimented, discovered, and grew creatively. Mrs. Syrie introduced art concepts that still helped them meet state art standards. These art concepts were:
Many of these concepts are visible in the wonderful artworks showcased here. When I look at this body of work, I believe making art was a joyful and healing experience for these students during a very worrisome time and I’m so proud of their efforts. Great work everyone!
