ASB Executive Council Elections are coming up. Application week will be Monday, April 26th to Thursday, April 29th. In order to be eligible for candidacy for ASB office, all forms must be completed and submitted by 3:00 PM on Thursday, April 29th. Approved candidates will be announced on Friday, April 30th.
Candidates must be earning a minimum of a 2.6 GPA and commit to extra meetings/work time before or after school and during the summer.
ASB Elections week will be Monday, May 3rd to Friday, May 7th. The Elections Assembly will be held virtually and streamed into 1st period classes. Voting will take place electronically immediately following the assembly. Winning candidates will be announced before 1:45 on Friday, May 7th.
As has been approved by the CMS Student Council and the Cheney Public Schools Board of Directors, students will not be running for specific offices but rather declaring that they would like to be a member of the Executive Council. The top six 7th grade candidates and top two 6th grade candidates will be elected and then the Elections Committee will meet to assign specific positions.
Positions that will be assigned are:
7th Grade - President, Vice President-Activities, Vice President-Communication, Secretary, Treasurer, Cabinet Chair
6th Grade - 2nd Vice President, Assistant Treasurer
The Elections Committee consists of the ASB Advisor - Mr. Holm; Grade Level Advisors - 8th - Mrs. Audet, 7th - Mr. Estock, 6th - Mr. VanHorne; 2020-2021 Officers President, Vice President-Activities, Vice President-Communication, Treasurer; and the ASB Central Treasurer - Mrs. Allen. The decisions of this committee are confidential and final. No specific election results will be published or shared as directed in the CMS ASB Constitution and to protect the candidates.
Applications will be available on the CMS website beginning at 8:00 AM on Monday, April 26th. Components will include an application, student commitment form, 2 teacher recommendation forms, and a parent support form.
