About Me:

I am Mike Stark and am proud to be the principal at the beautiful new Cheney Middle School.  I am 45 years young and a proud resident of the city of Cheney. My family and I have been fortunate enough to call Cheney our home for the past eleven years.  My family recently moved from the town of Cheney to a beautiful home in the country about 7 miles outside of town.  I am also the proud dad of two beautiful daughters (Peyton and Avery) and married to my beautiful wife April.

I began my career in education after graduating from Central Washington University as a 6th grade teacher at Red Rock Elementary in Royal City, Washington.  After two years I followed my heart to Royal Middle School where I taught 7th and 8th grade math, 8th grade algebra, pre-algebra, 7th grade life science, computers and technology, and 8th grade earth science.  I spent 10 wonderful years teaching middle school aged children.  I loved being a teacher and miss it often!

After completing my masters degree at Central, our family relocated to Cheney so I  could take a job as assistant principal at Cheney Middle School.  After two years as an assistant, Mrs. Burden and I took over as co-principals.

I have one of those jobs that I STILL look forward to doing every day.   People ask me all the time how I can work with middle school aged children.  I tell them there is not other group as great as middle school kids!  Cheney Public Schools is a great place to work and even a better place to send your kids for a top notch education.

In my spare time (don't have tons of that!) I love spending time with my family, boating, rafting, riding my motocross bike, doing yard work (I don't love this so much), and fly fishing (my PASSION!)  I also enjoy spending time at our family retreat on Priest River in Northern Idaho.

Here is a picture of me fly fishing in Alaska during the summer of 2008.  We had a blast and caught TONS of big fish.

Monster Gulkana River rainbow!
Fishing at Lake Lenore near Soap Lake, WA with my daughter.  This was her first fish on a fly rod.  Fishing with your kids is the best!

NCAA Final Four in Dallas, TX-2014...This has been on my "bucket list" since I was a kid!
