Hello families,

As we continue our work to incorporate exciting activities at CMS, we are trying something a little different for our seventh and eighth-grade incentive dance. We have noticed that as dances have grown to be accessible to more of our students, participation in them has slowly and steadily declined. To broaden our reach with this fun incentive, we are moving our seventh and eighth-grade incentive dance to the school day. 

On November 21, seventh and eighth graders will have an hour combined lunch time. During the hour, they will have time to eat, dance, and access a variety of other fun activities if they prefer not to dance. To participate, students must have no more than 3 tardies between November 3 and November 19. 

In order to ensure that all students have ample time to eat and participate in the festivities, lunch will be more free flowing. Students can pick up their lunch at any point during the first 40 minutes of the lunch/dance period. We will be announcing reminders for students to pick up their lunch in five minute intervals in both the cafe and dance. 

If your child does not qualify to participate, we will provide an alternative location for them to be during this time. This is a location where they will be able to catch up on class work and eat their lunch. 

Our sixth grade dance will be conducted in the same fashion as last year. Sixth grade students will have their dance during the last period of the school day, and if your child does not meet participation criteria, we will provide an alternative location where they can catch up on missing assignments. 

In addition, just like all of our other dances, we would love to have parent chaperones. If you are interested in volunteering, please utilize the included sign up link on Parent Square.

We are excited to offer cheer, chess and Pokémon as new club options for CMS students.
